चतुर्विधा भजन्ते मां जनाः सुकृतिनोऽर्जुन । आर्तो जिज्ञासुरर्थार्थी ज्ञानी च भरतर्षभ ॥
Translation
Four kinds of virtuous people turn to me: the distressed, the seeker of knowledge, the seeker of gain, and the wise.
Explanation
Notably, the verse doesn't rank these motivations as more or less legitimate — someone turning toward something larger than themselves out of pain, curiosity, need, or wisdom are all named without judgment. However you arrived at a practice today, the arriving itself counts.
Reflect
Which of distress, curiosity, need, or wisdom brought you to whatever practice you kept up today?
