Chapter 2, Verse 48

योगस्थः कुरु कर्माणि सङ्गं त्यक्त्वा धनञ्जय । सिद्ध्यसिद्ध्योः समो भूत्वा समत्वं योग उच्यते ॥

Translation

Established in yoga, perform your duties, releasing attachment. Remain even-minded in success and failure — this evenness is called yoga.

Explanation

Long before yoga meant a physical practice in most people's minds, the Gita defines it here as something purely internal: staying roughly steady whether things go well or badly. That's a genuinely demanding standard, and a useful one to measure a day against.
