Chapter 2, Verse 13

देहिनोऽस्मिन्यथा देहे कौमारं यौवनं जरा । तथा देहान्तरप्राप्तिर्धीरस्तत्र न मुह्यति ॥

Translation

Just as the self passes through childhood, youth, and old age within this one body, it later takes on another body. The steady-minded are not troubled by this.

Explanation

You've already lived through several bodies, in a sense — the one you had at seven, at seventeen, at today's age all differed enormously, and yet something continuous experienced all of them. The verse asks you to notice that continuity is already familiar territory, not some exotic claim about the afterlife.

Reflect

What in you has stayed recognizably 'you' across all the physical changes you've already been through?
